Further Success For Security Efforts Likely
The Iraqi Army has done well in taking over the security operations in Iraqi, and the Basra area is no different. Operation Charge of Knights began as a joint operation between the Iraqi Army and the UK coalition to go on patrol in the Basra region.
At first the UK coalition soldiers led the operations, and provided the leadership role. After a while, the role for leading the different operations passed to the Iraqi Army. Now, all of the patrols are led by the Iraqi Security Forces, and they continue to be effective with the Iraqi Army leadership.
Numerous house searches were carried out, leading to multiple arrests of many different militants and insurgent suspects, as well a large number of explosives. The Iraqi Army is showing how well it learned at the hands of the Coalition soldiers, and their overall performance has been excellent.
One of the key successes in keeping the peace has been the successful transition of the Operation Charge of the Knights. It began back in March and is now in phase 14, and becoming more and more successful as time goes on.
