US Army Unit Supply Careers

The Unit Supply Specialist is a person whose main job is to perform tasks in managing and providing inventory to Army personnel on an as needed basis. They are responsible for maintenance and upkeep of equipment, supplies and other Army materials. The specialist involved in Unit Supply is an expert in keeping the Army moving forward on task and on schedule. Other tasks that you may be involved in can be cataloging and locating supplies and stock, performing property management and parts repair management tasks, accounting for and sorting equipment and medical supplies, keeping records on outgoing and incoming stock, unloading and loading supplies by fork lift, hand truck and other equipment.

Keeping the flow of supplies going to the men and personnel doing their jobs is crucial to the Army Mission. The correct supplies, delivered to the correct people at the correct time in the correct amount is vital to the function and success of Army personnel all over the world. Working in unit supply is a big job, but it is one that the training and skills given to the individual by the Army allows the Unit Supply specialist to not only does their job but to excel. Distributing and maintaining the inventory of spare parts, food, ammunition, medicine, equipment and other supplies is a very important job. Some of the different tasks that you may be involved in as a Unit Army Supply specialist may be: controlling and securing ammunition and weapons in secure areas by direction, receiving and issuing weapons and small arms to crew members by direction, storing, delivering, inspecting, loading, receiving and unloading installation supplies and organization Army equipment, operating inventory and unit computers, preparing organizational and unit supply documents, inventorying, supplying. You will learn accounting and stock control, storage, movement and proper care of ammunition, procedures for issuing, receiving, storage and shipping of supplies and stock, and procedures for dealing with medicine, medical supplies, and food items. If you have an interest in bookkeeping, accounting or business administration, and if you are able to work on a team, and deal with people well then this may be the Army job for you.

Advanced training for six weeks, where you will learn at simulated on the job conditions, and in the classroom. You will work toward performing financial management and inventory control, and storing and receiving various Army equipment, supplies and material. After Basic training you will attend Individual advanced training.
