USERRA Employers Reservist Benefits

The National Guard and Reserves enjoys a high level of support and one of the reasons is because of the support that employers across America give to their reserve Employees. The Government at both the Federal and State levels have programs that support members of the Selected Reserves and they help to bridge the gap between employers and their employees that are mobilized and called to Active Duty Service. Most Employers are enthusiastic about supporting the efforts of their employees and the Selected Reserves and Guard programs as a whole. Many of the corporations and small business owners across America are true patriots and support the Reserves enthusiastically.

There are a few that are not supportive, and for those that make life a little rougher then there is the protection by law that the USERRA series of legislation that were written into law. The legislation and law that the USERRA program supports are often new ways to show employer support and communication to let members of the public know what serving in the National Guard and Reserve. There are a number of different ways to give support to Servicemembers and employers. There is a national committee that tries to find different ways to find support and understanding for employers in the United States. It is referred to as the Employer National Committee for support of the Reserve and National Guard. It is a supported Department of Defense organization, and it helps individual employers as well as smaller firms. It demonstrates what National Guardsmen and Reservists actually do and perform. The main element of the ESGR is a volunteer network of almost 4,500 members from every state of the union as well. The members work on 54 different committees in their own local communities to help with assistance and support of military and Reserves.

The manpower and force capability of our active duty services are made up of members of the Reserves and National Guard. Nearly half of the active duty force is made up of reserve and national guard members. In support of this is a program called Bosslift, that takes members of the civilian community and transports them to Guard and Reserve sites to observe what their employees that are members of the guard and reserves participate in.
