Mahmudiyah School Receives Uplift
Some of the best things to happen to Coalition soldiers serving in Iraq are when they are able to work to renovate or improve a school. As part of Operation Marne Piledriver there are two schools in Mahmudiyah that are being worked on and renovated. The 101st Airborne, 3rd BCT, 320th Field Artillery, 3rd Battalion, Red Knight Rakkasans are working to help get better funding also for both schools and for continued school improvements.
The two schools are the Omah Al- Mukhtar Girls School and the Uthman School in High Al Jaza’ir. Both schools are scheduled to be improved and worked on.
“The Mayor of Mahmudiyah and the Iraqi Ministry of Education targeted these two schools as needing the most help,” said Captain David Howald. Captain Howald is the Commander for the Emergency response unit of the 320th FA.

Now that terror is ebbing and the security is improving the overall importance of education for young students in the region is again taking center stage. “People are becoming excited again about the future,” said Captain Benjamin Torpy, 3-320th FA, Headquarters and Headquarters unit Commander.
The total reconstruction and renovation is scheduled to be complete within two months and will feature new exterior walls, new windows, new desks, fresh paint and overall refurbished classrooms. Each of the classrooms will have more space and lessen any overcrowding that was present before.
