The United States Navy states it: ?The Navy takes care of its Sailors.?
There are several impressive benefits that you will enjoy when you join the US Navy. Take a look at the information provided by the US Navy about the financial benefits that you can receive:
Health Benefits – The Navy offers full medical and dental coverage for you. You can also provide full medical and dental coverage for your spouse and children for little to no cost. Life insurance is also offered. A $250,000 policy costs less than $20.00 per month.
Housing – As a Navy sailor, you and your family will be provided either living accomodations on base or housing allowances. In 2007, it was reported that the Basic Allowance for Housing(BAH) rates reached a goal of zero out-of-pocket expense for active members that lived in civilian housing. This rate is secured by individual rate protection, which prevents a lower BAH rate provided the status of a servicemember has not changed.

Allowances – The United States Navy provides annual uniform and food allowances. In addition to the full allowance for uniforms upon joining the Navy, each year sailors receive a uniform allowance for the care and maintenance of their uniforms. In basic training and in installation dining facilities, no food allowance is provided for those meals. However, in 2009 the allowance ranged from approximately $220.00 to $324.00 per month, officer allowance to enlisted allowance, respectively when installation facilities were not available.
These are just some of the benefits you will receive when you join the Navy. There are also some cash bonus programs available to new recruits, based on education level and your field of choice when enlisting.
