Residents Of Mada’in Qada Listen To Live Radio Show
With the settling down of the overall security situation in the area of Forward Operating Base Hammer the officers of the Heavy Brigade Combat Team met with the local radio station for an interview. Colonel Wayne W. Grigsby Jr is 3rd HBCT Commander and Richard Hawkins is the embedded pRT team leader, and both met to speak to residents on a radio station call in show.
Iraqi Radio station FM 107.1 “Voice of the Mada’in” featured both officers and the interest among the community was high. Local citizens called in to discuss the different situations that are occurring every day in the Mada’in Qada.
“We have made a lot of progress because of economic growth and increased governance,” said Colonel Grisby. “It was the increased positive level of security that opened up the window for the progress we have seen here,” said Grisby.
3rd HBCT Soldiers deployed to the Qada first in March of last year, and since their arrival the security has improved with decreases in overall crime, and an increase in positive security within the region.
Listeners of the radio station had a chance to call and ask questions of the two leaders. Hawkins is an embedded member of the State Department on scene to help with issues of rebuilding and other such items important to local citizens.
