Information To Flow Between Iraqi Police And Coalition MP Squads
In an effort to boost communications, the 511 Military Police Company worked with their Iraqi Police Counterparts to set up a temporary Forward Tactical Operations Center in Al Kut. This was done to help speed the flow of information between different Iraqi Police Checkpoints and Mounted Military Police Squads.
Information will flow from FOB Delta, to 511 MP Company, and to and from the IP checkpoints at Al Kut.
Using the Iraqi Police in the lead the 511 MP squads are patrolling several of the Al Kut districts. There have been several days of sporadic small arms gunfire, and some small clashes with Rogue criminals. Despite this overall Iraqi Police operations are running smoothly and suppressing any other violence in the city.
“We are working to support the Iraqi Police and to monitor events here in the city,” said Sergeant First Class Herbert Tulip. Sergeant Tulip is the Senior Non Com officer for 511 MP brigade.
Up to now information has been passed from checkpoints to stations to IP police headquarters. This method of passing information has at times been slow and messages have at times been delayed. During the first full day of being in operations a number of IED devices were discovered.

With the new Tactical Operations Center the information was immediately given to soldiers who relayed it to Iraqi Police bomb disposal teams to take care of the explosive threats.
