AART Educational Experiences Credit

September 1, 2008 By admin

Many different educational experiences are available through the US Military. The training and support that you are able to obtain from the US Army are often of the nature and type that you cannot get from the civilian world. The Department of Defense and the United States Congress have joined together and brought forth a number of different programs that are designed to give Servicemembers in the US Army and its sister services credit for different military and personal experiences that they have. Many people had engaged in experiences and training that qualify for educational credit. The new program is called the American US Army Registry for Education Transcripts.

The AARTS program has direct college credit and other associated benefits as well. It gives recommendations for college credit that should be awarded to the soldier, that are based on the experience and training. It allows a university or college to award credit based on the AARTS transcript. The Department of Defense has talked about expanding the program to other military services. In the AARTS program the experience and credit that a Servicemember has gained by their service and Military duty is given college credit. It is an advanced computerized data system that is based on a number of different sources and then it takes and compiles the information. The Military Servicemember then can use the AARTS transcript to apply and be awarded college or university credit for the different experiences that they have had. The AARTS program for transcripts is one that was started by the American Council on Education and the Army. If you are a member of the Army Reserves, Army National Guard, or Regular Active duty Army then you are able to obtain an AARTS transcript. The AARTS system is also a good way for building a civilian resume and it allows a soldier to build their portfolio. It is a very valuable method to evaluate former military personnel.

There is a standardized chart that has different types of military training and experience that will assist in determining how and what kind of college credit. Using this standard a college or university can determine accurately the type and amount of college level credit that a Servicemember is eligible for. The Army has access to the information it is the soldiers request to seek the AARTS transcript. It requires an application and its necessary to apply in writing.
