The United States Army has a number of benefits to enlistment that are not always known.
Some of the benefits allow a person to move from one service to another without penalty, while others are for people who have never served in the military before.
Blue to Green. Are you currently serving in one of the other services? Are you serving with the Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard? There is a specific program to help people who wish to join the United States Army, but who have successfully served in one of the other branches of the Military. It is called Operation Blue to Green. It is an innovative program that allows a person to continue in military service and to expand their knowledge. Sometimes a person can maintain their rank and learn a new job; at other times just having a chance to gain new things and receive new training can make it worthwhile.
Youth Success Partnership. Nearly two hundred and fifty different companies offer preference in hiring a person following their Army enlistment service. Called the Partnership for Youth Success or the PaYS program, it allows people to convert the skills that they gain while on active duty to use in the civilian world. By choosing one of the participating corporations or companies a person is able to capitalize on the experience and knowledge gained while on active Duty with the Army.
Army Accelerated Enlistment. There are several programs that offer different terms of enlistment for new enlistment. One of them is the Accelerated Enlistment Option. It is a program that allows you to go through basic training, advanced training, and then after that be responsible for only fifteen months of service on active duty. This is a great option to get high quality training, but not be responsible for a long term of enlistment.
Home School. Because of the often-high quality of students who have been schooled at home, the Army has recognized this, and offers an enlistment bonus equal in most cases to those with a traditional High School diploma. Cash enlistment bonuses are possible for up to $40,000 dollars for enlistments totaling at least three years or longer, and up to $73,836 dollars are available for college using the Army College Fund.
There are many other additional opportunities to earn extra money. Extra duty pay, education bonuses, enlistment bonuses, specific job skill bonuses as well at others is available. There are specific bonuses for having a certain amount of college education. If you have a degree already, for people with a four-year degree there are opportunities to investigate becoming an Army Officer.
