For 2010, the Air Force has increased many of the bonuses for 35 jobs which fall under the Air Force Specialty Code (AFCS). Airmen who re-enlist under these jobs will be offered bonuses. You will receive half of the re-enlistment bonus at the time you re-enlist. The remainder of your bonus will be doled out throughout your contract period.
The year 2010 also brings along 10 new jobs which qualify as AFSCs. Unfortunately for some, two of the AFSC jobs have been removed. Below you will find a brief FAQ about the re-enlistment bonus program:
Is My Re-Enlistment Bonus Tax Free?
While the state tax will depend solely upon which state you are a legal resident, there will be federal income taxes that will apply to your bonus. If you are stationed in a designated combat zone when you re-enlist, you will qualify for a tax-free bonus.

Will My Bonus Change Every Year?
All bonuses are reconfigured every year depending on which careers are in the highest demand. The best way to know how much to expect is to talk with your unite career advisor.
How is My Bonus Calculated?
First of all, the maximum you can receive for a bonus is $90,000. The total of your bonus will be figured by taking your base pay and multiplying in the bonus multiplier and years of re-enlistment. This will give you your total Selective Re-Enlistment Bonus.
