How long is training?
Since the Air National Guard is part of the Air Force, you are required to attend Basic Training upon enlisting. Along with this, you must attend a technical school that offers courses related to the career you are interested in.
Generally speaking, Basic Training lasts approximately 8.5 weeks with your stint at a technical school ranging from six weeks to a full year.
I want to join the Air National Guard but am also interested in attending college. Is tuition assistance available?
Through the Air National Guard you may qualify for the Montgomery G.I. Bill. This provides you with up to $333/month based on the courses you are taking. Along with this, the Montgomery G.I. Bill Kicker is another possibility. This could potentially add $350/month to your stipend.

Does the Air Guard offer additional education benefits for those in the health profession?
In short, the answer is yes. Of course, you need to learn more about each program to determine which one you are eligible for. The most popular programs include: Student Loan Repayment Program (up to $50,000); Stipend Program, which pays $1,235 month; and the Montgomery G.I. Bill Program.

Am I eligible to join the Air National Guard?
Before you do anything you must determine your eligibility. You are required to have a high school diploma or GED, pass a background check, pass a medical screening, and be between the ages of 17 and 30. Along with this, passing the entrance exam is a must. This is known as the Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery. Finally, you must be a legal resident ? some states require that you are a U.S. citizen.

I really want to be in the armed forces, but unfortunatley due to some poor school decisions, i think im held back from doin so,but i am a cerified welder too. I understand the national guard has a GED plus program, and i was wondering if the air national guard has one also, if not could i go to the GED plus program for the guard and possibly still attend the air national guard?
