US And Iraqi Paratroopers Mount Anti Insurgent Missions
The Iraqi Security Forces have began to engage in a series of Air Assaults held at night, following the example of the Coalition trainers. There are often missions that are held now by the Iraqi Security Forces using night vision equipment, and on aircraft furnished by the Coalition.
These missions are planned by the Iraqi Military, and they request transportation by the Coalition, riding into the missions on aircraft supplied and piloted by the Coalition. The use of stealth nighttime missions results in the ability to get to a suspected insurgency location or a criminal safe House fast, swooping down before the enemy has time to respond or react.
This is often done to catch individuals that otherwise have eluded capture, or to target operations that avoid or hide from normal patrols. Using nighttime raids gives an advantage to the Iraqi Military and Iraqi Security Forces that normally they would not have, and it is an excellent example of the cooperation level that currently exists between the coalition and the Iraqi Military.
Without the Aviation assets and aircraft that are provided by the coalition, the nighttime type of raid and night time mission would not be possible. Now, because of the ability to respond at Night and with swift speed, the insurgents are not safe at night, and it gives a distinct advantage to the Iraqi Military.
