Little Unrest Noted In Maysan Province In Several Weeks
The situation in the Maysan Province has remained secure and the overall security has improved by the vigilance of the Iraq Security Forces. The success of the Iraqi police has led to an increase of enthusiasm and excitement. The Maysan members of the Iraqi Police have been well trained and worked as a unit to secure the entire area.
Recently the members of the Iraqi police mounted a series of raids to pursue reports of insurgent activity to the southern part of the province. They hitched rides with helicopter support from the Coalition, reaching the area in minute?s verses hours by foot.
The combined air assault was successful, resulting in the arrest of four-suspected insurgent, and it was a huge shot in the arm for the Iraqi Police Morale. As they made their way back to base, they were hoping and hollering, and very upbeat.
They discovered nearly 13 IED devices, as well as a supply of munitions and other weapons.
Throughout the raid, they continued to work as a well-oiled team, moving with speed and discipline and impressing the Coalition soldiers that were along for the ride as transportation.
Members of the Iraqi security forces have been working to become proficient in overall operations, and it is evident that they are becoming a very professional security team.
