The Army base is just like any other community. As such, the army employs its own police force. The Military Police are charged with the protection of the soldiers and the families which reside on the base. This includes the protection of property as well as protection from violence. Duties also include traffic control, crime prevention, and emergency response.
Military Police are also utilized in deployment stations to help with security, base enforcement of laws and regulations, internment, intelligence collection and more. Here is a list of some of the duties which are required of Military Police in the United States Army:
Securing and processing a crime scene
Testifying in court as necessary
Criminal apprehension and charging with applicable crimes
Patrolling base to enforce laws through the use of different modes of transportation
