5th Engineer Battalion Soldiers Work With Iraqi Army Engineers
The forces of the Coalition are working to partner with local Iraqi Citizens and officials and they all are facing the same problems; shortages of materials, equipment, and personnel.
Together there are a number of operations that are being worked at to restore the Iraqi infrastructure. The challenges that both Coalition Soldiers and Iraqi nationals face to rebuild the nation of Iraq have brought the two groups closer together in shared experiences.
Soldiers from the 5th Engineer Battalion of the US Army work hand in hand with members of the Iraqi Army Engineer corps, and together many programs and projects across Diyala are moving forward aggressively. Their combined operations began in earnest June 5th and are continuing forward with a lot of momentum.
Combat engineers work using large scale construction methods, and members of both engineer groups are working hard to employ and supervise Iraqi workman on a variety of projects. Both engineer groups have many of the shared priorities that make their cooperative efforts work well.
Arriving in Iraq the 5th Engineer US Army battalion have met repeatedly with their Iraqi counterparts and found that they both have strengths that complement each other. As they move forward, both are able to use the things they do well for the Iraqi people.
