The Army is a world leader in the field of tactical multiple launch rocket systems, and as a Army MLRS tactical missile specialist is an expert in dealing with these missile and rocket systems. The Army Multiple Launch Rocket System Specialist works to maintain rocket and missile systems for front line infantry, tank and combat soldiers serving in the field. You will be serving Army units to make sure that the tactical rocket systems function properly. The function and operation of artillery cannon fire and the function of overwhelming first strike capability is part of your overall responsibility.
The duties that a Army Tactical MLRS systems specialist includes aiming and plotting various points of fire, plotting intelligence data, gathering information on enemy positions, recording and transmitting information for enemy positions, as well as assisting in targeting missiles correctly on enemy positions. Working as a MLRS Army specialist you will work to record and transmit firing data using fire direction and radio voice systems, and communicating data into Army systems. Training for the position of Army MLRS tactical rocket specialist starts with attending Army basic combat raining, where you will work for 9 weeks to learn about the Army and various Army enlisted procedures. After basic training you will attend advanced individual training school where you will work to learn a variety of skill sets and MLRS operational information that will assist you in performing your jobs.

You will attend advanced training for 8 weeks that will give you training in classroom exercises and simulated live fire exercises. You will learn artillery tactics, navigation procedures, battle strategy, and methods of operating and communicating unique MLRS systems. You will be taught how to calculate targets, electronic, manually and using various systems to fix enemy targets on charts and maps, and communicate this information to command planners.
If you work under stress well, and you can deal with detailed information well then this may be a well suited position for you. If you have an interest in rocket, missile or cannon operations and like working in difficult and challenging situations you may be well qualified for this specialty in Army enlisted work. This position requires keeping detailed records, precise orders and you have to have normal hearing and normal color vision. You should be in top physical and mental condition to perform in this position.
