The Army Reserves have a number of voluntary different programs to help pay for a persons education. The Army Voluntary Reserve Education Services Program encompasses a group of different educational programs that are administered by the Department of Defense. The DoD has a group of different programs that give Army soldiers in the Reserves different vocational and educational opportunities. Soldiers that are serving in the Army Reserve can benefit their own educational situation while also giving back to their country and providing retention and readiness options for the Army Reserve Program at large.
The program in the Army Reserves encompasses different educational support and learning programs. These programs include the following programs; Troops to Teachers, Selected Reserve VEAP, Reserve REAP, Montgomery GI Bill, CLEPS and DANTES testing credit program, Spouse to Teachers Program, and previous military experience credit. The program for Army Reserve Education makes wide use of the American Army Council on Education Registry Transcript System Support, or AARTS. Many personnel join the military specifically to get assistance financially to attend school, and the US Army recognizes this. The Army education service is supportive of these efforts, and provides assistance and planning for individual Army Reservists, as well as giving them a chance to improve their military careers, and become more competitive. DANTES and the CLEP program partner with the Army to provide additional support and to give credit for specific examinations. Each of the branches of the Armed Services has a variation of the TA tuition assistance program, and the Army Reserves is no different. Army Tuition assistance is paid to those active duty mobilized reservists and Active duty Servicemembers. For those classes and programs that are covered, TA will pay for 100 percent of tuition and specific fees for classes taken during off duty hours. Armed Forces Tuition Assistance is normally paid to the University or college and can help you with overall cost of your education. With the addition of CLEP and DANTES testing, you can gain credit for what you already know. This gives you the chance to save money by gaining credit for information and training you already have, and will help you get to your educational goals more swiftly.
