Atlanta, Georgia was the host to air force week during the second week of October. Once again, this year’s festivities were a success, as people that serve in the Air Force were present at the festivities. Air Force Week, which honors those that are in the Air Force and other branches of the military, is yearly event that is well received in the area, as well as for those that descend upon Atlanta for the show. This year’s events were especially important, as the Air Force was honoring their 60th anniversary. The celebrations that were given last week also had the US Honor Guard rifle drill team available, as well as the US Air Force Academy Wings of Blue, which is the parachute team that jumps out of the planes for a spectacular performance.
Many of the main attractions that are also available in Atlanta during the Air Force Week as the military jets and airplanes that are used for combat. Most of these jets are fighter jets, while other large airplanes, such as a cargo plane, are used to haul soldiers and equipment overseas. The planes that are on display can be walked into as they are available or tours of how the military operates and the machinery that is available to them. The Atlanta Air Force Week also offered recruitment booths for those that were interested in signing up to join the Air Force. Senior Airmen are also on hand to talk to those that may be interested in enrolling with the military.
