International Business Discovers Iraq’s Second Largest City
The progress that has been made in Basra has been fantastic, and the overall progress in the business and commerce has been also reflected. Basra is the second largest city in Iraqi, and it could be as successful as the city of Dubai in the eyes of some of the citizens and Iraqi leadership.
The state of industry and business in Basra has grown exponentially to the point where it is now a bustling international business hub. The recent ?Charge of the Knights? operation of the Iraqi Security forces has aided the security in Basra, to the point that citizens appear to be feeling safe and secure on the streets of Basra.
Basra has apparently turned the corner, and it has succeeded in driving out the different insurgent groups that have been on scene for years, in some cases. For several years, militia leaders and militia groups controlled many areas of the city.
Now, the region and the city of Basra itself have grown.
The oil fields, the international businesses, and the Port of Umm Qasr as well as the international airport have all worked together to help raise the appearance of peace and security for the entire city.
