Coalition Troops Engage In Operation Charge Of Knights
The ongoing operations near the village of Basrah have entered into a new operations phase in the execution of Operation Sawlat Al- Fursan, translated which means Charge of the Knights. It is an operation that first began March 24th, and is one that deals directly with clearing out terror and insurgent safehouses and strongholds.
The Operation began in March with a systematic house to house clearing operation, using joint forces from both the Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police, and members of the coalition provided security overwatch. This is one of the first times that a major operation has been headed by Iraqi soldiers and is an example of how well trained the Iraqi Security forces have been at the hands of their Coalition brethren.

A large amount of explosives and arms were discovered by Iraqi Security forces. The operation has been progressing without any major incident. Iraqi Al-Qiblah operations have turned up a IED explosives factory, a great deal of illegal weapons, and several large weapons caches. All of the seized weapons have been turned over to the Coalition EOD forces and taken out and destroyed a short distance away.
The successful Charge of Knights operation has not just been in Basrah, but it has been expanded outward to the southeast. A Al-Qaeda senor operative was discovered, pursued and arrested by Iraqi Security forces close to 20 km to the Southeast of the major operation.
