Explosives Guns And Ammunitions Turned Over To Authorities
Working together with their Coalition military partners, the Iraqi National Police seized a large cache of explosives, guns and ammunition last week. The tip was revealed by a member of the citizens Sons Of Iraq group, and led the Police right to the stash of weapons.
There were 34 rockets, 18 mortar rounds, 10 rocket sleds, and 3 RPG rocket launchers joined nearly two hundred pounds of explosives fuses that dominated the find. With each discovery of weapons and ammunition that is turned over, it represents one less group of illegal weapons that can be used against coalition troops or civilians.
Members of the MNF Explosives ordinance disposal team took possession of the weapons and took them a short distance away and destroyed them in a controlled explosion.

“We have seen a gradual increase in the amount of attacks recently in south and east Baghdad, and every time we discover one of these weapons caches and destroy it we deny these weapons to the enemy. These are huge successes for our coalition efforts,” said Brigadier General Mike Milano, who is the Deputy Commanding General for 4th Infantry and MND-B.
“Our partners and friends the Iraqi National Police and Iraqi Military are getting better and better at finding and eliminating these enemy threats, we are quite pleased at their independence and success,” said General Milano.
“Every time the Iraqi NP or Iraqi Army finds and eliminates one of these weapons stockpiles it represents Coalition and United States Military lives that have been saved,” stated General Milano.
