Serving in the Army as a communications Cable technician is a technical and rewarding career. You will work to install and maintain a vast network of Army Cable equipment and microwave equipment. Wired Cable systems are part of the Army communications network, and as such the Army Communications Cable Technicians are responsible for keeping the network up and running. Working in this career field will allow you to earn an Associate Certified Electronics Technician certification if you so choose. The Army Communications Cable Technicians work to ensure that all the communications cables, equipment and gear is in top working order.
As a Army Communications Specialist you will work to perform tasks such as: Testing circuits and groups to find trouble areas and fault lines, troubleshooting of wired communication cable systems, installing and maintaining wired security devices, and performing various tests to make sure that the equipment is working. You will learn line installation, wiring techniques, preventative cable maintenance solutions, and other topics in both classroom and on the job training. The maintenance of wired cable systems can be a daunting task that requires a lot of legwork and detailed inspection, and the Army communication Cable technician is the person that helps perform this type of work. As a member of that force you will work as an Army Cable Communications technician, to help make sure that information and data gets where it is supposed to be, securely, swiftly traveling over the wired networks that the Army maintains. Job training to become an Army Communications Cable technician includes a total of 16 weeks of training. The Army has one of the largest standing Army ground forces in the world. You will work to string wire and overhead communications cables, assembling electrical cable between utility poles, and other types of equipment installation duties. The First 9 weeks will be Basic Combat training, where you will learn how to be an Army enlisted person. This equipment gives the Army the ability to direct and track aircraft, ship and troop movements to maintain battle and mission preparedness.

Army Systems Communications Cable installers and maintainers are tasked to be sure that all of the operation, installing, and performing of maintenance for wire and cable systems is properly performed and done on time. You will spend seven weeks in Cable Maintenance and Installation school, where you will learn a variety of basic electrical principals and cable installation procedures. Civilian jobs include work in the Cable Television and Telecom industries.
