In this day and age, particularly since the events of September 11th, 2001, there are a number of different citizen patriotic groups that work hard to showcase their efforts to support members of the US Armed Forces. After the debacle that happened on that day, during the attacks on the World Trade Center, The Pentagon and the plane that crashed in the country of PA, it has not been possible to mail packages to military members directly. Many patriotic organizations have arisen that help to bridge the gap.
Operation Homefront is the organization that administers the eCarePackage program, and they send packages to the troops every day. They maintain a list on their web site of things they accept and that you can send and how to become involved. ECarePackage is a method where consumers and citizens can donate specific goods and money and have it successfully routed to overseas Servicemembers in military service for the United States of America. There are several groups that a citizen can show their financial, moral and emotional support for the troops. These organizations can receive certain products, money, or other donations and make sure that the troops receive them swiftly. This was partly to increase support but also to allow the security of everyone to be observed. Many military families were concerned that the troops serving in the conflicts currently were not getting the same level of support that they have enjoyed in the past, so many of them got together with officials from the Department of Defense, and created the ?Operation Homefront,? organization. This is to protect everyone involved, but there are a lot of options available in supporting some of these groups. There are a number of patriotic groups that are working hard to show our Servicemembers overseas and here at home that their service and their sacrifice is not for naught. The Wounded Heroes group is base in Chicago, and administered at military and civilian hospitals around the world including Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany as well as other places around the world and Stateside. They administer a program called ?Their Care Project,? which is a hospital related program to help with the needs of Servicemembers that have been wounded. They seek things like: socks, pajamas, and travel sized toiletries. They also have a web site and it lists in more detail the things that people can do in support of American Troops serving.
