The Uthman School has been officially reopened in Mahmudiyah after a number of different reconstruction efforts over the last two months.
The manager and head instructor for the School is very pleased with the overall reconstruction work that has been accomplished. ?This is the best that the school has ever been, I have been there for the last twelve years,? said Waihab Fadel.
Mr. Fadel is the school manager and will work to lead the school now that it has been reopened.
The renovations were done well, and the extension of the perimeter walls and adding several classrooms were part of the overall reconstruction that was done. With the benefits of new classrooms, it will easier to teach and educate Iraqi Students in the next several years.
The project was initially started by the 10th Mountain Division 2nd BCT before they returned to the United States. The 101st Airborne Division 3rd Brigade took over the project and completed it with funds from the Emergency Response Commanders program.
Operation Marne Piledriver began in April, and it allowed the construction to be kicked into high gear. Members of the Coalition were able to devote more time and resources to the project as the security condition continued to improve.
