Four Terrorists Killed And Three Insurgents Arrested
The military operations continue against Al Qaeda and the anti Iraqi forces as coalition and Iraqi troops continue to patrol and enforce the rule of law. Several different terror suspects were pursued, with four terror insurgent suspects being killed in close fighting and three different insurgent suspects captured and held for questioning.
The actions of a recent raid south of Baghdad nabbed these terror suspects, reportedly part of a cell located in the Samarra region. This was the last known cell that had been operating in the Balad/Samarra region.
The joint patrol of Iraqi soldiers and coalition troops were making their way along the border of Samarra when they were first fired upon by enemy soldiers that surrounded the patrol vehicles. After a fierce firefight, the coalition and Iraqi Army forces were victorious, leading to the four terrorists killed and the three captures.
Weapons systems were found in the possession of the insurgents ranging from small arm to mortar ammunition and several launching tubes. The illegal munitions were gathered together into one central location and destroyed.

Thanks to the joint efforts and patrols of coalition troops and Iraqi Army personnel there has been a remarkable decline in violence and overall terrorism in the Samarra region. This has been mostly from the boots on the ground attitude of coalition forces in recent months, and the cooperative spirit fostered between the Sons of Iraq, the Coalition Forces, and the Iraqi security forces.
