There are a lot of explosives in the countryside, many explosives are in hidden caches that have been abandoned, and are often forgotten. As they come to light, then they have to be rendered safe. The Iraqi Security Forces have done well, they are able to handle some of the situations themselves, and then at other times they are necessary to turn the site over untouched to the coalition.
This has helped to solve the ongoing problem with Explosives. Now, slowly the Iraqi Security forces are becoming better trained, and able to deal with more of the explosive issues on their own.
