Rio Lobo Outpost To Receive Restored Water Service
One of the priorities that the coalition has been focused on has been providing water for the citizens and communities in Iraq. Combat engineers have worked hard to rebuild and facilitate the building of the new water facility in conjunction with the Combat Outpost Rio Lobo.
The members of the Combat Logistics Battalion 6, 1st Marine Logistics group worked with the Regimental Combat Team 5 and the 2nd Armored Light Recon Battalion. Together they worked with the Iraq Ministry of Water to design and implement the water reconstruction process.
Because the Coalition chose the area near Rio Lobo for their new forward Combat Outpost, the Iraqi Water Ministry was encouraged and immediately approached the coalition for help in establishing a water facility to deal with the increased water needs.
As the Marines begin to occupy their new outpost, the facility is being built at the same time, complete with pumps and trained Iraqi personnel. It is a win win situation for the Coalition, when they leave Iraq then the Iraqi Security Forces will be able to occupy and use the forward outpost as a security station.

The pre existing water plant used to supply much of the water in the area, but now with the Combat Forward Outpost the plant is being upgraded and rebuilt, and will work to supply both drinking water and for farming.
