Coalition Turns Over Location To Iraqi Control
One of the nicest things that have been occurring in the nation of Iraq is the involvement of the citizens in great Iraqi life. Some of these different organizations are such as Sons of Iraq, and different volunteer organizations that are coming out and participating in the government, and social life of Iraq for the first time.
The transfer of Combat Post Cleary to the control of the Iraqi Security Forces is one of the positive steps that has happened because of the support and aid of the Iraqi people. The COP Cleary is located near Salman Pak, and it was transferred on September 9th to Iraqi control.
The soldiers of 2nd Brigade Combat team, 1st Armored Division gave the authority of Combat Outpost Cleary to the Iraqi Army at a ceremony acknowledging the transfer.
The transfer serves to show how much things are changing, and how the improved security has given the Coalition the ability to withdraw to a support role in the area.
Violence in the area has dropped to less than one attack a day, and its because of the support of the community, and the cooperation that has sprang up between the ISF forces and the Sons of Iraq.
Because of their ability to work together the insurgents and others that formerly could hide have no where to go. When terrorists come into the area, the members of the community tell the ISF forces or the Sons of Iraq, and this gives no place to hide.
