The US Military provides medical care for its Servicemembers and their Dependents using the TriCare medical program. It provides medical and dental services for dependents and Servicemembers by providing health support for non-military and military operations. It has an overall mission to provide dental and medical services for all members of the military and their dependents.
It is provided for by the program called TriCare, and stands as the primary care program for all United States Armed Forces. It consists of three different variations, which include:
TriCare Standard- Most Servicemembers dependents belong to Tricare Standard. This is mainly for dependants, and it is not available for the Servicemember themselves, but exists for the Servicemember?s family, spouse and children. TriCare standard is the most common kind of service. It is a standard of care that offers health care with some types of care shared, but most things are covered for the majority of care. It is not accessible or available to those Servicemembers on active duty. It does offer a lot of different types of healthcare that is good for dependents especially, is very helpful to their dependents back home.
The military TriCare health care system maintains a support network of medical professionals and Internet support for Civilian providers. TriCare Extra- This type of TriCare is the least common type of coverage, and it is the best type for people that have another type of insurance. It is best for Retired Servicemembers, or Servicemembers that have insurance from their spouse, or other type of insurance which can function as their primary insurance. Servicemembers that have two income families that have supplement insurance, and they simply decide to use TriCare Prime, or TriCare standard because these choices give more flexibility for them. TriCare Prime- TriCare is an organization services the needs of dependents and Servicemembers, and helps give quality medical service. It gives health activity support and care for military members and service people as well as dependents around the world. Servicemembers who are on Active Duty are on TriCare Prime.
This is the most covered level, and the costs are borne by the military. It is the standard of care for Active Duty Servicemembers, and almost without exception is the standard care provided for members of the US military serving on Active Duty. TriCare and its affiliated programs cares for nearly 9 million different people, including the beneficiaries.
I’m trying to find out when dependent medical benefits begin.
My fiance is going to boot camp for the navy reserves 8/20/09 and we are getting married 8/8/09. Will I be covered when he leaves for boot camp, or do I have to wait for all of the paper work to go through before being covered? I am trying to find this out to see if I need to buy my own coverage until his health benefits kick in. Thanks
I just re-gained my Dependent Military ID card, how long di I have to wait for Military Insurance and RX Insurance to start covering medical and RX? My card says MEDICAL- DIRECT-YES. Would you furnish a telephone number for more info.?
Thanks,
M. Nix
