Coalition Works To Surrender Security To Iraqi Security Forces
More and more of the different regions of Iraq have been slowly returned to Iraqi Security Force Control. Recently, the area surrounding Diyala has reverted to Iraqi control, and it has been a slow transition by the coalition as they make sure that the Iraqi Security Forces Are up to the job.
The area around Diyala is where it was formally a very violent area, but slowly security has been imposed on the region. First with sole coalition means, and then slowly with the Iraqi Security Forces, the region has seen a number of positive changes.
The 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment gave its security responsibility to the Balad Ruz police department, and the Iraqi 5th Army division. Together these two different elements of the Iraqi Security forces have worked hard, both in training with coalition soldiers, and in assuming the security for the region.
The citizens and the neighborhood have grown slowly to be able to trust the ISF forces. Previously they did not enjoy the faith and trust of the community around them, but slowly they have been able to gain the trust and faith of the community.
