Joint Action Led By Explosives Unit
One of the greatest risks to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan is mines and explosive IED devices. Disposal and proper handling of IED is very important for the military and it’s why it’s important that all of the Armed Forces for the United States work together.
The Air Force and The Navy work together each contributing personnel to the 184th Ordnance Battalion. It is called the Task Force Troy North and has members of both Navy and Air Force
Explosive operatives in it.
The joint 184th Ordnance Battalion works to destroy any explosives that are turned over to the coalition, and they are active in providing support for searching for IED devices. It is important that a person be the right temperament for the EOD job. The position calls for a public service type mentality. It is a position that is not produced, but is gradually trained by sending the operator to the right schools. It is a job that saves lives. You have to be willing to take risks, but be a levelheaded individual. It is not a job for daredevils, but a person that has a healthy respect for the dangers involved.

EOD units work to identify and detain individuals that are involved in creating and making bombs and explosives. EOD operations are an in depth job that takes specific training and an attention to detail.
