New Marketplace Sets Time Capsule To Celebrate
The citizens and members of the Iraqi government were pleased to announce Euphrates Farmers market. As the market prepared to open, they celebrated the opening by placing items in a cornerstone time capsule. This cornerstone will be opened perhaps a hundred years down the line, and has a number of items that represent what is happening in Iraq now.
Sealed up in the time capsule is a copy of the farmers market declaration, with the different 15 key individual signatures of those that helped develop the concept for the Farmers Market.
Agricultural members, Iraqi Province governors, along with members of the Iraqi Security Forces and members of the Coalition were all on hand for the grand opening.
The Central Euphrates Farmers market will help provide food, produce and services for the local community, and will serve as a centerpiece of the local community.
The Agricultural Center-Stone Foundation Ceremony was the group that held the opening festivities, and it was to announce the opening of the Farmers market itself.
The marketplace is open, but elements of the Farmers market will not be open until later this year, with all of the elements featured in the marketplace being open by the first of 2009.
Many members and leaders of the Coalition were on hand to witness the grand opening. The marketplace could not have been opened without the support of the coalition, and the cooperation between the ISF forces, the local citizens, and the coalition.
