The traditional family life of a soldier can be rough. It is not impossible that a soldier is required to spend months or even a couple of years away from their loved ones. Although most military families get used to the separation, if there was another alternative available they would certainly welcome it. Well, the Pruitt family has found such a solution: family deployment.
What is family deployment? It is simply when more than one person in a family signs up for the same military unit and gets deployed. It doesn’t happen too often because there isn’t that much of a likelihood that more than one person in a family has an interest in the military. However, for the Pruitts, everybody wants to be a solider. In their situation four family members have joined the ranks: Michael and Joseph Pruitt (who are brothers) and their wives Kristi and Alicia Pruitt, respectively.
Each of the Pruitts work in different battalions, but they still get an opportunity to see one another. This makes their life seem less military, since they are surrounded by their loved ones. The only downside is that each of the couples will have to wait to have babies, though neither are interested in doing such things at the moment. For now the military is their first and foremost obligation.
All in all, the Pruitts tradition of family enlistment should offer encouraging ideas for military families, especially for spouses who both are in the army. The process for doing as they have done is as simple as trying to get transferred to the same unit.
