Police Engage Operation Led By Iraqi ISF Soldiers
After the overall security situation has improved, the Iraqi Army has taken up the leadership position in joint operations. When it comes to overall coordination and planning, different operations that were formerly started by the Coalition are now being planned and launched by Iraqi Soldiers.
The Iraqi soldiers and Iraq security forces are gaining confidence with the added success that they achieve. As the security patrols are gaining strength and success, the citizens are learning that their very own Iraqi Security forces are not only professional but well trained, and able to perform their duty as well as the coalition.
A new dawning for the security forces in Iraq have been born. Recently 10 companies of National Iraqi Army and Iraqi Police officers conducted an operation to search for militants and insurgents. They came together, soldiers from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Iraqi Army, as well as different members of the Iraqi Police. They were joined by Coalition personnel, but the leadership was performed by Iraqi forces, as well as the majority of the search operations.
Additionally the vehicle operations and tag verifications used to support the mission were also performed by the Iraqi Security Forces. This was a big change and a positive step for the Iraqi Security Forces.
In the past, the majority of the search and security operations were done by the Coalition. As they continue to grow in professionalism, it is a huge step to be able to step back and allow the Iraqi forces take control of security situations.
