Graphic Designers Needed in the Military

A career in graphic design conjures up images of an advertising office or a print journalism career, or perhaps a magazine job for many people. However, the military has a need for graphic designers as well, and the benefits to a design career in the military are great.

The benefits, tuition reimbursement, etc. for graphic designers in the military are just the same as they are for any other recruits, and the recruit receives the training that will get them a great job in the private sector after their military service ends.

The designers create publications like manuals and training materials, military newspapers, a variety of reports, and promotional materials. There is a need for graphic art not only in these materials, but also in signs and posters, charts, and movies.

The graphic designer in the military use their skills to produce graphic drawings, visual displays and artwork.

The duties of the graphic designer in the military are varied. They will likely be asked to use computers to generate their graphic designs. They may create charts and graphs for budget presentations and troop number displays. They may be asked to graphically represent supply levels and office organizations as well.

Some designers make silkscreen prints or draw illustrations for filmstrips, films or animated movies.

Often a graphic designer will help the producers and directors of films to create backdrops and props for audio visual productions.
