Hohenfels, Germany-? The initial training that many different units of US Soldiers receive before deployment to Afghanistan has undergone some interesting developments, as a winter Blizzard has fallen upon the facility located at Hohenfels, Germany.
The training for mission rehearsed exercises went ?hot? on Wednesday as soldiers began to prepare for their upcoming Afghanistan deployment. Team Blackfood soldiers went on patrols along tank trails turned Icy by the wintertime storm, looking for ?Taliban? or ?manned guard towers,? but the exercise assumed an air of the absurd as the whole exercise was buffed by wind and snow.
Team Blackfoot is a task force made up of members of Company B, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Division. They will be deploying to Afghanistan and the mock drill and patrol style exercises they are undergoing at Hohenfels will serve to replicate actual patrols and live exercises they will undergo when they arrive in Afghanistan.
While Team Blackfoot is on patrol, six other squads take turns playing ?the Taliban? and also participating in the exercise is members of the coalition Romanian units. They are also being prepared for Afghanistan deployment alongside their US Servicemember counterparts.
The entire group is slated for deployment in Southern Afghanistan in the Zabul province, and will serve to bolster the coalition and US presence in that region.
