The duties and job responsibilities of the Human Resource Army specialist can vary, but they can deal with such tasks as arranging different types of awards ceremonies, maintaining and ordering office supplies, keeping filing systems organized and in order, and retrieving and maintaining different personnel information using manual and computer means. The human resource specialist can process command recommendations for decorations and awards, update and process requests for personnel evaluations, and monitor and prepare soldier requests for leaves, passes, leaves of absence, ID cards and Tags, as well as a host of other Army Related business.

The Human Resource Specialist in the Army is a jack-of-all-trades, and sort of a master of none. They have one of the most varied and trying job in the Army, but with the training and skills that they have they manage to do the job well. Training for a Human Resource Specialist involves Basic Combat Training for 9 weeks. After boot camp, the Human Resource specialist studies from 7 to 9 weeks in a classroom setting. Much of the training involves office related information, office procedures and how to learn to type. You will study Army correspondence and forms, and learn how to manage personnel records as well as how to keep records the Army method.
If you have abilities in business administration and typing, and are able to follow detailed instructions, and if you enjoy working with people, then this may be a job for you. Advance senior enlisted Human Resources personnel often manage Human Resource Offices, and supervise junior enlisted personnel and help train junior personnel.
