Festival Held In Public City Park
The citizens and members of the community held the first Seddah City Arts Festival in the park in the Village of Seddah. The community is able to relax and hold public events, under the watchful eyes of the Iraqi Security Forces.
Members of the 7th Infantry regiment, 4th BCT, 2nd Platoon, Company C, 3rd Battalion have been working hard but in mostly a supervisory capacity. The members of the coalition attended the festival and were impressed with how well the Iraqi Security Forces are doing in maintaining security over a variety of events.
Saddam did not allow such public festivals, so the people in the community are very excited about being able to hold such an open-air festival, its all a new experience for many citizens.
The festival was well attended, and it lasted six nights with a different theme each of the six nights. The festival included skits, sculpting, literature, and puppet shows, and the people were glad to have a chance to interact and deal with the public and each other.
The only festivals that Saddam allowed were religious, and they were very strict regulated affairs that had no joy, no enthusiasm, and no life.
The Coalition has helped encourage such festival activity as a way for bringing the community and different members together.
