Baqubah Police Academy Graduates Start Work
The recent class of Iraqi Police academy graduates have started work already, being the first graduating class of officers that have been trained at the newest police academy in Baqubah. The first class of trainees that graduated was 125 in number, and was filled with bright fresh faces, all new candidates for the Iraqi police, often hired from the Sons of Iraq or other similar supportive citizen groups.
The level of pride and confidence in these new candidates is high. There seems to be a high level of confidence and pride in the community and Iraqi society overall, much higher than it was even a short time ago. This has been because of a number of events, including the success of a number of insurgent capture efforts, as well as the institution of the new Iraqi constitution.
The new candidates have a much higher level of training than candidates and new police officers have had in the past. They have been receiving training in pistol use, the use of rifles, even how to use AK 47 weapons and automatic guns. This has aided the Iraq Security Forces, in giving them a much more efficient and trained force, as well as having more support for the police agency from the new candidates themselves.
