Coalition Give Watercraft Training
There are a number of different roads in Iraq that provide transportation and access to areas for security purposes. But there is another access to different areas that is available, using the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers
Recently Riverine Squadron 3, Riverine Detachment 2, Battalion 3, 7th Marine Regiment, RCT team 5 has worked to train members of the Iraqi Army, who will eventually be responsible to patrol the rivers and provide additional security available from the rivers.
The Iraqi Army and Iraqi National police have formed a river security detachment for the Iraqi Security Force, and the different access is often an element that works for the detachment, as many people are surprised with the ability of police officers to swarm to a trouble spot.
Policemen from several different areas of the Al Anbar province, as well as Iraqi Army individuals have been tasked to the new unit, and they are all working diligently to learn from their Coalition trainers.
The candidates are already police officers so they bring an element of confidence for the operation, and they can work together easily as they all are Iraqi Citizens and share language and culture already.
