Medical Event In Numaniyah Led By Coalition Trained Iraqis
There have been a number of different medical events that the coalition has held over the last 18 months. But in every one, the medical effort has been funded, led and provided for by the coalition. For the first time, there was an event in Numaniyah that was led by Iraqi soldiers. The supplies were still provided by the coalition, but this was the first event that was planned, implemented and ran by the members of the Iraqi Security Forces.
Boxes of medical supplies, food and Water were provided to the Numaniyah hospital last week, in a medical assistance event led by Iraqi personnel. Seven doctors and nurse were all members of the Iraqi Army. In addition, there was a doctor and a nurse provided by the Georgian Infantry Brigade, and a Salvadorian Cuscatlan Dentist, and several US Army medics. All leadership was provided by the Iraqi Soldiers, and they treated nearly 150 patients over the two-day medical event. The Iraqi medical personnel and Iraqi soldiers led all this.
The event security was provided by the Iraqi Security Forces, and elements of the 511th Military Police Coalition Soldiers also provided backup support.

Overall the event was a rousing success, and the Iraqi people were seen leaving with wide smiles. It is another example of the ability of the Iraqi Forces to maintain and provide security for their own country.
