Medical Event In Numaniyah Led By Coalition-Trained Iraqis
The coalition has held several different medical events over the last 18 months. But the medical effort has been funded, led, and provided for by the alliance. For the first time, there was an event in Numaniyah that Iraqi soldiers led. The coalition still provided the supplies, but this was the first event planned, implemented, and run by the members of the Iraqi Security Forces.
Boxes of medical supplies, food, and Water were provided to the Numaniyah hospital last week in a medical assistance event led by Iraqi personnel. Seven doctors and nurses were all members of the Iraqi Army. In addition, a doctor and nurse were provided by the Georgian Infantry Brigade, a Salvadorian Cuscatlan Dentist, and several US Army medics. The Iraqi Soldiers provided all leadership, and they treated nearly 150 patients over the two-day medical event. The Iraqi medical personnel and Iraqi soldiers led all this.
The Iraqi Security Forces provided the event security, and elements of the 511th Military Police Coalition Soldiers also provided backup support.
Overall, the event was a rousing success, and the Iraqi people were seen leaving with wide smiles. It is another example of the ability of the Iraqi Forces to maintain and provide security for their own country.
