There is much more to flying than just getting in the cockpit and taking off. You need to be able to make sure that your systems will not break down during takeoff, flight or while landing. This is a part of flight which the United States Air Force takes very seriously. This is why there is a whole ground crew which is trained to pay attention to every aspect of the aircraft and to make sure that it is properly maintained at all times.
What You Will Do
As an avionics systems apprentice, you will work on the systems which will allow the pilot to be able to keep control over the aircraft. Everything from the wings to the ballast will be something that you will be in charge of. You will also be in charge of making sure that such important things as the altitude and horizon controls are working properly at all times because of how important they are to the safe operation of the aircraft.

Getting the Position
Just like any other position in the United States Air Force, if you are hoping to work as an avionics systems apprentice, there are a few skills you should have so that you will be considered.
