MNF Major General Relates Reconstruction Progress
The gains in security that Iraqi and Coalition forces are enjoying was noted by one of the key military leaders. Major General Kevin Bergner is a MNF coalition National Forces Spokesperson, and he addressed the media at a Baghdad news conference last week.
General Bergner noted that the rule of law and other advances are moving steadily forward in most areas of Basra, Baghdad and Mosul, and the presence of terrorist insurgency suspects have dropped drastically. The Iraqi led “Charge of the Knights,” has ignited a lot of national pride, community officials and Iraqi security forces, binding them together to work in unison to unite Iraq as a nation as it goes through various growing pains.
Iraqi Forces in Basra, as part of the Charge of the Knights operations have been very successful in removing illegal combatants, and seizing illegal weapons, The Iraqi security forces along with groups such as the Sons of Iraq are showing their zeal and personal motivation by their professionalism, and continued devotion to making the Iraqi countryside safe/
“The overall Iraqi Forces maintaining security are a very strong presence in Basra and the surrounding countryside,” reported General Bergner. “Iraqi police and soldiers are working to set up many security checkpoints and stations throughout the city and doing an excellent job pursuing insurgents.” Said General Bergner.

In addition Iraqi Security forces mounted a successful medical operation in the Qibla district of Basra, according to General Bergner.
