Iraqi Citizen Tip Led To Uncovered Find
One of the largest amounts of explosives yet discovered was reported and turned over recently in the Diyala province. The explosives were discovered by joint Iraqi and Coalition forces in an abandoned house, as a direct result of the efforts of a local Iraqi citizen that reported activity that they thought was suspicious.
Police and Iraqi soldiers were the first to respond on the scene followed by members of the EOD explosives units from the Coalition. The Members and soldiers of the Iraqi 1st battalion 12th combined Armed Iraqi Army battalion responded and discovered the deadly weapons and explosive arsenal.
The tip received was from an Iraqi man that discovered an IED device in the street near the abandoned house, and he was not sure what the item was, so he reported it and the house to the local Iraq checkpoint.
An immediate investigation was launched and a joint Iraqi Security patrol and coalition soldiers worked to surround the house, and it was investigated very cautiously, when it was seen that there were a number of explosives in plain sight inside the house.
The cache has over 200 grenades, as well as nearly 500 pounds of raw explosives, as well as an assortment of mortar weapons and other different rifles and ammunition.

The coalition and members of the Iraq security forces are always excited when they find a weapons cache, as it means one more group of weapons that cannot be used to attack members of the Iraqi government , Army, police or members of the coalition.
