Baghdad Service Facility Well Received
Members of the Iraqi public, local Iraqi government, and civic leaders as well as members of the coalition have worked to celebrate the new public works substation in Baghdad. A celebration was held on June 25th to bring the new Substation online.
Public works are the newest push on the part of coalition soldiers to rebuild and reconstruct damaged areas of Iraq. Public works provide essential services such as street cleaning, trash pickup, water and other necessary services that are needed for the good of the community.
The Ameriyah substation is considered a milestone in the efforts to rebuild the overall Baghdad region. It has not been in service for several years, and so it is with a lot of excitement that the new sub station comes back on line.
There has been only a single substation located in the eastern district of Baghdad, so the new Ameriyah substation is an exciting new addition to the Baghdad area.
Soldiers from 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne work with the ePRT reconstruction teams to identify members. The overall project took 45 days to compete and it will mean services for close to 15,000 residents that do not have services up to now.
The services that will be available in Ameriyah are services that will be eventually standardized across Iraq.
