Growth And Progress Examined By Iraq And Coalition Leaders
Different members of the Iraqi Security Forces have been working hard to meet with members of the Coalition and Sons of Iraq. Together the leaders of each group have talked together, and compared notes about the direction and progress of security in the entire region.
The situation on the ground has improved a great deal, and nothing has affected the environment as much as the increase of professionalism on the part of the Iraqi Security Forces.
Members of the Iraqi police forces, as well as the Iraqi National Army have recently all had different opportunities to train with coalition forces, learning security procedures, weapons and tactical training, and also learning different ways to diffuse situations without violence.
This type of training has been put to good use by the Iraqi forces, and this has led to a huge turnaround in the level of trust and respect that the Iraqi people have for their soldiers.
At first, when the Surge first began last fall, the level of trust the Iraqi citizens had for their own forces, much less for the coalition was pretty bad. Members of the community viewed all the security forces, both Iraqi national and Coalition with distrust and fear.
Now, it is a different place. The members of the citizen groups are eager to participate, and the leadership and military officials in the Iraq security forces are pleased to be able to patrol and regulate their own country, and to have their own country men be able to show trust and respect in them.
