Temporary Cement Barriers Removed Traffic Opens
The area near the market in Baghdad has been blocked for many months with concrete barriers, and it has given a security parameter that has helped keep the market area safe while it was being rebuilt.
Now, the concrete barriers have been largely removed, and the market place has been rebuilt, and a bridge has opened again. The bridge known as “Leaders Bridge,” has had the concrete barriers removed, as the security conditions have allowed the situation to progress to the current successful situation.
The Iraqi Soldiers from the 24th Muthana Brigade closed the Leaders bridge in Baghdad because it was a hotbed of insurgent activity. The Brigade closed it three years ago, and then began the long road to improving the overall safety and security in the region.
