The United States Navy is more than just a military force. It is a career and a way of life for many people. It is a place where people will live every day and perhaps may live out the rest of their lives. Enlisted and officer personnel live in close proximity to one another on an ongoing basis. It can sometimes be difficult to maintain civility and order in these kinds of environments. This is why the US Navy has Masters at Arms.
What You Will Do
You will have several duties as master at arms in the US Navy. You may be asked to work as a regular police officer. You will arrest and investigate crimes which happen aboard vessels or on shore. You will also be asked to perform certain antiterrorism duties throughout the world. You will be responsible for maintaining order on a community and a global scale.

Get the Training
The specific training you will get once you get to A-school will depend on the kind of work you will be doing. You will likely go through handling school so that you can use a K-9 unit to investigate certain crimes. You will also need to attain a Secret security clearance because of the kind of work that you will be doing. You will have to go through about 140 days of training beyond the basic training that every personnel member goes through.
