The mission of the United States Army includes recording and documenting events and different missions that the Army performs. One of the jobs in the Army is the Video Equipment operator and Film recording specialist. The Army is one of the largest producers of film and video in the world. A great deal of the different material that is filmed is for training, documenting events or filming different Army maneuvers or ceremonies. The different type of events that you may record can sometimes not be Hollywood caliber, but you will still deal with different people doing a variety of tasks. Audio recordings, films, video tape and other types of recordings are used to document and record a variety of training activities, military ceremonies, and other different events.
Dealing with visual and audio recording and documenting different activities can be a challenging and enjoyable task. Working as a visual information equipment operator you will work to record different activity in the audiovisual and broadcast field. You will get different opportunities to work both in recording and editing, working with personnel and information crews, soldiers, and others to edit film, video, scripts, and other types of recorded material. Different Army operations use equipment and visual recording equipment to document a wide variety of Army missions and events. As an Army Visual Information Equipment Operator you will use motion picture recording equipment, film projectors, and digital recording devices.
To begin training for becoming an Army Visual Equipment and Video Operator you will start with 9 weeks of Basic Training, where you will be taught various things about becoming an enlisted Army Servicemember. After Basic training you will then attend 27 weeks of training to give you the skills to operate various types of audio, visual, motion picture cameras, and even television cameras and recording equipment. You will learn how to utilize recording equipment, basic editing, scripting, and special effects. You will provide maintenance and operations on a variety of sound equipment and public address equipment. Many different types of Army operations and Army missions need to be recorded, and documented, and you will responsible for using your skills to record these types of events. You will use many different types of state of the Art gear to manage, record and document Army events.
